Liquid Gold
A whisper of saffron turns any drink into a ritual. Its warm notes lend even the clearest compositions a quiet depth — subtle, never overt.
Harvested in the first light of day, when the blossoms open for only a few moments: Every fiber is selected by hand – not out of haste, but for peace, precision and form.
The uppermost, deep red threads are exclusively removed – unbroken, unmixed and untouched by the process – thus yielding the rarest known quality grade.
Each batch is laboratory tested and certified according to ISO 3632 Grade I. Crocin, safranal, and picrocrocin levels consistently exceed global limits – not adjusted, not engineered, simply revealed.
Quality promise
Three values determine colour, aroma and flavour. Our batch exceeds all three – consistently and verifiably.
Our conviction
Behind every thread lies a story – of women who harvest, of earth that gives, and of a standard that leaves nothing to chance.
Our saffron is harvested by women in the high valleys of Afghanistan. Every purchase directly supports their economic independence and self-determination.
No middlemen. We work directly with the producers – for fair prices and long-term partnerships that extend beyond individual harvests.
Traditional farming without pesticides in the mountain regions of Afghanistan. Methods passed down for generations – a product that respects the earth.
One terroir, one vintage. No blending, no mixing. Every batch is traceable from field to your kitchen – like a Grand Cru.
The secluded highlands, where stone, light, and silence converge, hold a secret: from delicate crocus blossoms arises that red gold whose voice transcends time. Harvested before sunrise, the entire stigmas rest on handwoven silk screens in the clear mountain air – a ritual preserved through generations.
Thus, Zaffronique reveals what the mountains have long guarded – a terroir that speaks: clear, deep, unmistakable.
Unveiling the Secret of Senses
Voice of a connoisseur
"I use it in tea, in risotto, sometimes I dissolve a few threads in warm water – simply as an evening ritual. What convinced me is the intensity: the colour, the aroma, that unmistakable flavour. You can tell immediately that this is a different league."
A whisper of saffron turns any drink into a ritual. Its warm notes lend even the clearest compositions a quiet depth — subtle, never overt.
In creams, puddings, or ices, saffron unfolds its full poetry: velvet texture, luminous gold, a scent of morning light and honey.
A few threads are enough to ennoble savoury dishes. Saffron lifts roasted notes, opens spices, and binds sweet and savoury into harmonious balance.
Science & Research
Part of traditional medicine for millennia, now the subject of modern research: saffron fascinates scientists worldwide. In our journal, we explore current studies on crocin, safranal and their properties – well-founded, transparent, without promises.

Frequently asked questions
Saffron threads release their full aroma when finely ground and steeped in warm water, milk or broth for 10–15 minutes before use. The concentrate can then be added to dishes, dressings, doughs or drinks – for optimal colour, aroma and flavour.
For a dish serving 4, approximately 0.1 to 0.2 grams is sufficient – that's about 8–15 threads. Less is often more: saffron develops its effect subtly and becomes bitter when overused.
Store in a cool, dry and dark place. Seal airtight after opening. Our saffron has a best-before date of at least 4 years from the year of harvest. Properly stored, it retains its full aroma for many months.
Super Negin refers exclusively to the longest, undamaged stigma threads – no style, no breakage. It is the highest commercially available quality grade. Our batch achieves crocin values of 265+, safranal 34+ and picrocrocin 100+ – far exceeding ISO minimum requirements.
Our saffron comes from a single region in Afghanistan (Herat) – a terroir repeatedly recognised as the source of the world's finest saffron. Single sourcing, one harvest, one batch. Every harvest is traceable as a separate vintage.
